WE TOLD YOU SO: Jackson National Life coming to Franklin

Press conference confirms original NCC report.

Lansing, Mich.-based Jackson National Life Insurance Co. made it official today that their third largest office in the country will be in Williamson County.

At a press conference today in Franklin, company officials revealed what Nashville Chatter Class already reported first that the life insurance giant was coming to Tennessee.

The Franklin location will be a regional headquarters for Jackson National and will employ up to 750 people in the Crescent Resources office building known as One Greenway Centre. The company will occupy 90,000 square feet by January 2011 and add another 30,000 by 2012 and another 30,00 by 2013.

“We looked at 44 cities and decided where we wanted to grow,” Mike Wells, vice chairman of Jackson National said today. “This was not a cost decision.”

Wells said on major attraction to the Nashville area was what he described as its “highly educated, hard-working and gracious people.”

The location process for Jackson National’s Franklin office took three years and will be the company’s third largest for now. The largest, their corporate headquarters in Lansing, employees 2,100 people.

As a new corporate citizen in the region, Jackson National contributed $250,000 to Nashville Rising, a benefit concert by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on June 22 to raise money to help flood victims.

When Jackson National looked in the Nashville area two years ago, the talk then was that the division meant up to 500 jobs. The company had looked at downtown Nashville as well.
