Apple’s next flagship device, the iPhone 8 or iPhone X for 2017, could possibly be delayed to 2018 on account of manufacturing delays.
Earlier, there were rumors that the iPhone 8 would arrive a little later than usual, that is, in October or November this year.
It is possible that the iPhone 8 may not follow the same pattern of release as other phones from Apple through the years. This could be due to 2017 being the 10th anniversary for the iPhone. There are many speculations doing the rounds regarding the release of the next iPhone X or the iPhone 8.
It is rumored that there might be three versions of the device available in 2017. This will be the iPhone 7S, the iPhone 7S Plus and then the iPhone X or the iPhone 8. Of these three versions, the iPhone 8 is speculated to be the most expensive one and will offer a technical showcasing representing the anniversary celebratory model.
Release in 2018
Many rumors claim that the flagship device for this year will be named the iPhone 8 and that it will be released along with two other versions, the iPhone 7S and the 7S Plus, some time later in 2017. However, based on the conventional pattern Apple follows in naming its devices, the iPhone 8 should logically be released in 2018. Apple is supposed to be considering a 2017 release for the iPhone 8, as it is the 10th anniversary year for iPhone. However, it could also wait to release the iPhone X or the iPhone 8 in 2018.
Many supply chains have noticed that there are some technical issues and challenges that face the manufacture of the iPhone 8. According to deutsche Bank, Foxconn sources expect the company to order the parts for the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus and not for the iPhone 8, according to reports in Business Insider. There is a possibility that Apple will announce the new iPhone 8 in 2017 and then start shipping of the device next year, in 2018.
Some other anonymous sources have mentioned to Fast Company that Apple is also considering another name for the new iPhone 8, possibly iPhone X. The sources also state that the new iPhone X will come with an OLED screen of 5.8 inches and will not have bezels. The body will be in stainless steel. However, the iPhone 8 might have a glass back, like the older iPhone versions. The home button may not be visible and might be hidden beneath the screen. There might be changes in the volume rocker and the sleep or wake buttons. They might be removed and touch sensitive panels could be used instead. However, in order to incorporate all these changes, there might be an increase in the price, which might be more than $1000.
Normally, Apple launches its new iPhones in the month of September every year. However, there are reports that it might not happen this year. According to Bloomberg, there are some issues on the supply side and this could delay the iPhone X and shift it by one or two months, thereby making it a fall release in 2018.
