Android 6.0 Marshmallow was unveiled last year. However, this OS has yet to reach all compatible devices across the globe and as such, app developers have been quite slow at integrating some of its best features into their platforms.

One such feature that Android Marshmallow brings to the fold is the fingerprint API. With this feature, it means that developers can now come up with apps that take advantage of fingerprint capabilities baked into the OS by default.  Thus, enabling users to do more than just lock and unlock their phones using the fingerprint sensor on their devices.

While Android Pay has been hailed as one of the apps or rather services that will be taking advantage of this fingerprint API in Android M, other third party apps have started joining the party. If you are a mobile banker in search of a quick and secure way of getting into your account and out, the Bank of America has your back. The company this week added the ability to sign in to its mobile app with the use of a fingerprint, something that comes in to take full advantage of Android Marshmallow’s native integration with fingerprint support.

This is not the first time Bank of America users will be seeing this option of signing in to the app using their fingers; however, it will be the first for non-Samsung users. The app has been supporting some form of fingerprint authentication, but this has only been working for Samsung devices. Now that Android Marshmallow has entered the fold, all other devices can also be used to sign in to the app using a fingerprint.

The latest version of the Bank of America app is v6.6.8 and it can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. Other than coming in with the ability to sign in using a fingerprint, the new version also gets quite a number of nifty features.

For starters, users of this app will now be able to order checks right from within the app. There is also an option for users to check their deposits via photos. These eliminate the need of going to the bank, meaning that you can carry out almost everything right from the comfort of your bedroom.

If you are a current customer of Bank of America and haven’t been using their mobile app, there is no better time to download it. For current users, make sure you have updated to the latest version.
