An upgraded version of the BMW M4 CS has been launched which is more powerful, lighter and faster.
The high performance model was revealed at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show which is underway at the moment.
The automobile brand confirmed that the production of this vehicle will continue for two years. It will be available in stores before the end of this year with an expected price tag of £89,130. Speaking about the new launch, the company representatives said that the car has been heavily inspired by motorsport. While the idea is to not make it on par with the GTS which is a much more powerful car, the new CS edition will set itself apart in terms of performance, looks from the base model.
A powerful engine is obviously inside the bonnet which is how the car can produce an amazing 454 horsepower which is about 29hp more than the standard M4 model. The car can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 174 mph. The powertrain is coupled with a seven speed dual clutch gearbox. Apart from the modified engine, the BMW car has an improved suspension which allows the powerful M4 CS to complete the well known Nurburgring track in about 7 minutes 38 seconds. It is about 22 seconds less than the base M4 takes to complete the same track.
Reducing weight off the car when increasing the powertrain and providing better performance is no easy task. The engineers have accomplished this feat by making ample use of carbon fiber materials in majority of the car’s areas including the bonnet, roof, rear diffuser, drive shaft and many other areas. The total weight of the car is 1,580 kilograms which is 32 kgs less than the current model.
A pronounced front splitter is now found in the front apron and there is also a lip spoiler on the bootlid. The ten spoke alloy wheel uses Michelin tires. The auto brand offers the new BMW M4 CS is two different color variants, the San Marino Blue Metallic and the Lime Rock Grey Metallic. Luxury quotient is prevalent in the interiors which are wrapped in Alcantara and leather materials fitted with sports seats. The BMW brand’s Professional navigation system is integrated in the car along with an automatic climate control setup. The car is being displayed at the Shanghai motor expo at the moment along with their competitor’s concept models.
