Google Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X Night Mode Feature May Come Back Soon

Android Nougat on Google Nexus 6P

Android Nougat promises quite a number of amazing features for Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X and one of them is Night Mode, a similar offering to Apple’s Night Shift.

Many people using the 2015 Nexus phones have been waiting for the arrival of this feature for quite some time. Google had it baked into its initial Android Nougat beta versions, but somewhere along the way, it disappeared. However, the release of Google Pixel and Pixel XL marked the return of this Night Mode feature, but since the two are installed with the newer Android 7.1 Nougat, it meant that those using Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X must keep waiting for the update to come via the newer version of the OS.

According to the latest reports, this Night Mode feature is set to make its debut with the upcoming Android 7.1 Nougat update for users of Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. This follows a massive protest by users of these devices who were already enjoying the new feature on Nougat via a thread known as Bring Back Night Mode. Google has indicated that it will be bringing back this feature in a future update, which is probably the upcoming Android 7.1 Nougat update.

With this in mind, it means that those using the Google Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X will have to keep exercising their patience as it is not known exactly when this will be happening.

When Night Mode is enabled, users of Google Nexus 6P and 5X will be able to enjoy a display screen whose color temperature has been adjusted and in this way, there is little strain on the eyes when using the phone at night. Of course, there are numerous apps that already play this role on Android devices, but it is better to have the feature built into the OS rather than be forced to download yet another app on your phone.
