Finally, the HTC One A9 in India has started receiving the much-awaited update to Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone had already received the same treat in several other markets, including the U.S. and Europe, but those in India can now speak the same language with their counterparts.
The HTC One A9 variant sold in India is unlocked and as such, it is understandable if users of the phone have been a little bit impatient with respect to the Nougat update. So far, the unlocked variant was the first to receive the OTA update back in January, but a lot of this was happening in the U.S. Carriers such as Sprint have since followed suit, rolling out the update to the phone in the U.S. market.
Now, if you live in India, it’s about time you started enjoying the new Android 7.0 Nougat OS on your HTC One A9. Since the OS is rolling out over the air, it will take some time before all handsets are actually updated to Nougat.
The Nougat update is hitting the HTC One A9 as version number 2.18.707.1, which also includes the latest monthly security update, but chances are that this might not be for the month of April. The update is huge, weighing in at 1.05GB and as such, the OEM recommends that you connect your One A9 to a Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA to your phone. Also, make sure that your phone’s battery power is at least 50%, otherwise, find a power source and keep it connected throughout the upgrade process.

As noted, OTA updates may take days or even weeks before finally reaching out to all affected devices. With this in mind, you can try doing a manual update by going to Settings>About phone>Software updates and force the OS to download manually rather than wait for the OTA notification. The HTC One A9 now joins the likes of HTC One M9 and last year’s HTC 10 in receiving the Nougat treat.
