Karbonn Launches Budget Friendly Titanium Vista and Titanium 3D Plex for the Festive Season

Karbonn Titanium Vista

The Indian smartphone manufacturer Karbonn has launched two affordable smartphones in its Titanium series.

Named Titanium Vista and Titanium 3D Plex, the release was made in time for the festive season in October 2016. Although considered to be entry level devices, they do have a few interesting specifications that can make them worth considering. While the Vista is available only through offline channels with retailers, the 3D Plex can also be bought from online sources. The Titanium Vista is just a little more expensive than the Titanium 3D Plex. But, the most interesting aspect of the second handset is that it comes bundled with the required accessories to help you feel this effect when you watch online 3D videos of your favorite movie. Unfortunately both the dual SIM smartphones do not support 4G LTE connectivity. Very few specifications have been revealed at the moment.

Body Material, Dimensions and Weight

Karbonn has always been known for using plastic as the key body material for its devices. The Titanium devices are no different. The size and weight of the Titanium Vista is not made known. But an insight of the images available online, it does not appear to be oversized or bulky. In contrast, an unofficial online source puts the size and weight of the Titanium 3D Plex at 145 x 73 x 10 mm and 160g respectively. Also, in the looks department, each handset appears quite ordinary looking.

Screen Size and Display, Pixel Resolution and Density

Talking of screen size, based on information available, Karbonn Titanium Vista and Karbonn Titanium 3D Plex have a screen size of 5 inches each.  As for the Vista, display quality of photos and videos meet the bare minimum clarity and crispness requirements. This is because the FWVGA IPS display has a mediocre resolution of 854 x 480. There is no input on the pixel density of the handset. On the other hand, the 3D Plex makes use of an IPS LCD screen with the same pixel resolution as its counterpart and supports a pixel density of 196ppi.

Rear and Front Shutterbugs

There is actually nothing spectacular in the optics division as far as the two devices are considered. However, taking the two smartphones into consideration, the Titanium Vista takes the upper hand with an 8MP rear snapper and a 3.2MP front shooter integrated with flash. Its counterpart Titanium 3D Plex is equipped with a 3.2MP autofocus 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution primary camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP secondary VGA camera. Based on an input from an online source, the latter handset can record 480p videos even as its primary shooter allows all basic functionalities.

Hardware, Memory and Software

Unfortunately both Titanium smartphones come with less than the basic 1GB RAM available in handsets these day. Loaded with just 512MB RAM each, both the devices offer 8GB ROM for internal storage. They also feature memory card slots to help in increasing this limit by an extra 32GB. Even though the two devices use quad core processors, the Vista has a slightly better 1.3GHz clocking frequency for its MediaTek MT6580 processor compared to the 1.2GHz value of the 3D Plex, However, this does not create an impact on their performances and they can be considered to be at par in this regard.

In spite of a letdown in the memory provided, Karbonn has taken pride in making these handsets available with a recent version of Android – Android 6.0 Marshmallow – installed as its operating system.

Battery and Battery Life

Following the present day trend, the Titanium smartphones are integrated with non-removable 2,300 mAh batteries. While the battery life details of the Vista are said to be a ceiling limit of six hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time, it is reported that with the 3D Plex you will get seven hours of talk time, 260 hours of standby time and a maximum of 16 hours of music playback.

Connectivity Options

The Karbonn smartphones support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3.5mm headphone audio jack connectivity.

Apart from the above two new launches, Karbonn has taken an extra step to lessen the price of its slightly earlier smartphones – Fashion Eye and K9 Viraat – to brighten up the festive mood even more.
