Lenovo P2 is not a new phone in the market, at least when comparing it with handsets that were announced and released in 2017, however, this powerhouse has everything you can ever dream of not just in any midrange phone, but also any smartphone in general.
Announced in September 2016 and released a month before the end of the year, the Lenovo P2 is turning out to be one of the best midrange phones in the market right now, if not the best. Whether you are talking about looks, sheer power, battery life, display quality or even price – the P2 is one phone you will love having as your daily companion.
Lenovo went for a beautifully crafted metallic design that comes in a package of just 8.3mm thick. You can have the P2 in either graphite gray or champagne gold, depending on your color preference, but the power under the hood remains unchanged. For those who love big, the Lenovo P2 has your back thanks to the roomy 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display screen it comes with. According to the Chinese OEM, this display panel also comes with Perfect View that makes everything look vivid and sharp.
Under the hood, the handset ships with a speedy Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at a speed of 2.0GHz. The SoC is paired with two RAM options of either 3GB or 4GB and the storage capacity is 32GB with room to expand it via a microSD card. There is also room for a high-end 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, but this model is not easy to come by.
The rear panel has a great 13MP Sony sensor that comes with PDAF, HDR, Panorama, dual-tone LED flash as well as f/2.0 aperture. This snapper can also record up to 2K videos at 30fps, but the 5MP front shooter, which has a smaller f/2.2 aperture, can only manage up to 1080p video recording.
A major highlight of the Lenovo P2 that has actually earned the phone the tag “Powerhouse” is the battery capacity. The P2 has a massive 5100mAh unit on board. According to the company, this unit will take you across three full days on a single charge. In the event that you need to charge the phone and time on your side is limited, the battery supports 24W Rapid Charge that will take the battery from 0-4000mAh in just one hour of charging. Still, you can be sure of up to 10 hours of battery life with just 15 minutes of Rapid Charging.
To give you a longer battery life, the Lenovo P2 also comes with a feature known as One-Key power saver that helps double the amount of battery life, but this should also mean a few functions are limited. For security purposes, the P2 also ships with a fingerprint scanner that resides on the home button. In terms of software, you get Android Marshmallow out of the box, but an update to Android Nougat should come in future, although the date is not known at this point in time.
The Lenovo P2 is currently available in a number of markets across the globe, with the base model valued at about $250.
