After rescheduling the LG G3 Marshmallow update that was meant for mid-March, it seems Canadian carriers are now ready to roll out the update in the country.
It has been weeks since this update started showing up in the home country of South Korea. However, it is only up to now that those using the LG G3 smartphone can update their device’s software. This update has been coming for months now, especially since Google rolled out the update more than five months ago.
Carriers such as Telus had confirmed that the LG G3 Marshmallow update will start showing up as from March 29. However, this carrier had previously changed this update’s release date, something that had left some users furious with the company. The last update the LG G3 saw came back in 2015 and it was all about Android Lollipop.
Of course, the LG G3 Marshmallow update will not come to every Canadian user at a go. Some devices will receive the update earlier than others; something is usually subject to carriers and to some extent, device models. Still, it is possible to manually check for the update and see if it’s available for your device.
To do this, launch your LG G3 phone’s settings and scroll down to About menu. While in there, tap on Software and then Update to check whether the update is ready for you to download. If available, make sure your phone is fully charged before beginning the update process. Also, it is recommended to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi rather than using mobile data. If using mobile data, make sure you have an unlimited plan and that the connection is high-speed.
LG G3 was availed in Canada in August 2014. Back then, the flagship was running on Android KitKat and later on in February last year, the device was updated with Android Lollipop. The already rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will probably be the last for the device, so make sure you make the most out of it. Just as a heads up, make sure you have at least 1GB of fee space on your LG G3 before downloading the Marshmallow update. This is because the update has a size of about 777MB.
The LG G3 Marshmallow update will bring the much-anticipated Doze mode, Google Now on Tap as well as better apps permissions system. The update is currently rolling out to Telus, Rogers, Videotron, Virgin, MTS, Fido, Koodo, Bel and SaskTel.
