LG will be attending the MWC 2017 tech show in Barcelona later this month. At the event, the South Korean tech giant will unveil the new LG G6 and days before this happens, we have our eyes on leaked images of the phone’s prototype.
A few days ago, an image of the supposed LG G6 surfaced courtesy of The Verge, but this only gave us a view of the phone’s upper part. Now, in another story coming in via renowned leaker Slashleaks, the G6 has been leaked in full glory. Although the images are not very clear for obvious reasons, we can for sure confirm quite a number of features about this phone.
For starters, LG G6 is expected to come with a 5.7-inch QHD+ display screen with rounded corners. From the look of the leaked image of the front part, this seems to be the case. The screen is huge and it leaves very small bezels on the sides. The bottom bezel is still big enough to accommodate the company’s logo. Even though the top bezel is very small, its size doesn’t prevent it from housing the selfie camera and the earpiece as shown in the images.
As for the back panel, a dual-lens camera is confirmed and it has an almost similar arrangement to the recent LG V20, but the LG G5 has the dual-tone LED flash located in the middle of the two lenses as opposed to the V20’s location on the side. However, it seems the G6 will come with an almost flush camera hump as compared to last year’s LG G5. The fingerprint scanner is still on the back, just like the LG G5 and V20. As for USB connectivity, you get Type-C. This port is on the bottom end alongside the phone’s speaker.
Even though this latest leak only shows us the supposed design of the phone, hardware specs of the LG G6 have appeared in previous rumors as well. Apparently, LG won’t be waiting for the Snapdragon 835 SoC that should be ready somewhere in April or May, instead, the company will use the 2016 Snapdragon 821, which is the revised version of the Snapdragon 820. Still, this chipset is fast enough, more energy efficient and generally better than the SD820. On the memory front, LG G6 should keep the 4GB RAM capacity alongside 64GB of internal storage. Android 7.0 Nougat will run the show out of the box.
The MWC 2017 is just a few weeks away and we should keep on seeing more of these leaks in the coming days. Brace yourself and stay tuned!
