2015 Moto X Pure Android 6.0 Marshmallow update started showing up some few months ago, but it is only now that the factory image has been availed for download by the Lenovo-owned company.
Even though the first Android Marshmallow factory image is now available for download, its availability is kind of limited. In order to get it, owners of the Moto X Pure (2015) must, first of all, ask for permission from the supplier – Motorola. Once you are approved, you will be able to get the latest build MPH24.49-18_18 on your phone. This is the same build number received via the regular OTA update.
The newly introduced Motorola Marshmallow factory image works in the same way as the usual Nexus factory images many of you are used to. Using this image, it is possible to flash the Moto X Pure smartphone and revert its settings to the stock software just in case you have messed up with its original configuration. If you happened to download and install any of those leaked soak tests that had no upgrade path, you can take advantage of the power of this factory image. You must, however, unlock the phone’s bootloader, something that must be obtained from the manufacturer itself.
For you to receive the new Moto X Pure (2015) Android Marshmallow factory image, you must provide your Google or Motorola account login credentials. Once you have done this, go ahead and request permission to a Google Drive folder. The process of approval might take even days, but on a good day, it can only last a few hours and Motorola will get back to you.
The Moto X Pure (2015) edition is a typical Motorola smartphone as far as the design language is concerned. Featuring a curved back panel, the phone varies in thickness, ranging from 6.1mm at the edges and 11mm towards the middle. The 5.7-inch 2K Super IPS LCD screen is just amazing, but it lacks the color richness exhibited by Super AMOLED panels.
Under the hood, the Moto X Pure Edition features a hexacore Snapdragon 808 CPU, an Adreno 418 GPU, a RAM of 3GB and onboard storage memory of 16GB for the base model, which can be expanded using a microSD card. The phone is priced at about $399, which makes it one of the best, if not the best, in this subcategory.
