Land Rover is all set to launch a new Discovery SUV next year which will bring back the Discovery brand back to the North American region.
People in the United States would definitely appreciate the efforts by Range Rover and to bring back the Discovery. They are some of the favorite SUVs for buyers in the region. The report was confirmed by a leading automobile magazine. Land Rover is mulling over the concept as they have planned to push the car upmarket into the elite category.
Instead of constraining the Range Rover in the mid-luxury market, Land Rover likes to see its SUV compete with the likes of Rolls Royce and Bentley Bentayga. The idea seems feasible because the brand has been in the SUV segment for many decades now. Yet, they haven’t tried to impress the upmarket audience even though most of their vehicles have the potential to do so. Allowing some other manufacturers to take over the market should be a bad choice when they have all the resources they need.
Besides, when a company like Rolls Royce which hardly has a name for itself in the SUV market decides to bring a car of their own, it’s high time Land Rover have their own in this niche category. Talking to the magazine, Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s head commented that they are planning to make the Range Rover become the most luxurious vehicle from their lineup. At the same time, Discovery brand and the Discovery Sport will be pushed into the empty space created by Range Rover’s absence.
He added that there is plenty of space for them to increase the price for the SUV so as to offer luxurious features and new add-ons. Despite its huge potential, Range Rover still lacks the space to become a true seven seater SUV whereas the Discovery can easily pick up that spot. Apart from these models, Land Rover has Defender lineup of cars ready to reach dealership stores.
At present, the most expensive Range Rover model that you could purchase is priced at $200,490. The pricing including destination charges. It is still nowhere near a Bentley Bentayga and we can say for sure that Rolls Royce isn’t going to price their upcoming SUV cheap. Both companies are known for catering to the top of the line buyers. The luxury SUV market will soon heat up with some amazing cars and if you spare no expenses, these are the ones to go for.
