Setting new record in the Germany track is just the beginning as the Porsche Cayenne has gone beyond the call of duty to prove its horsepower and performance.
In a recent event, the Cayenne managed to pull the extremely large and heavy Airbus A380 and set a new Guinness world record for every other automobile manufacturer to follow. The SUV is now considered world’s most powerful model to have pulled the heaviest aircraft. It was demonstrated at the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The version of the car used to perform was the Cayenne S diesel edition which costs about £66,676. Under the bonnet, the car is powered by a 4.1-liter V8 twin turbo engine capable of producing up to 380 horsepower and has 850Nm of torque. The numbers are pretty amazing without questions as it can easily set new lap records on track. However, using the same horsepower to pull such a huge airplane is something that is unique and phenomenal that allowed them to make it to the world records book.
During the publicity event, the car pulled the Airbus A380 which weighs a massive 285 tonne and has 516 seats. The total length of the airplane is measured at 73 meters and it was pulled through a distance of 42 meters to prove how efficient the powertrain in the new Cayenne S model is. The record is very high when compared to other similar attempts done in the past. The Porsche model has managed to surpass everyone in the same segment by 115 tonnes making it extremely difficult for them to attempt and achieve this in the near future.
The first record was set by Nissan Patrol in 2013 which then managed to pull an airplane that weighed about 170 tonnes. The Porsche Cayenne car was driven by Richard Payne who was very impressed by the output of the model and said that they don’t usually test the powertrain with such tests. However, the feat inspired them and they are really glad to have achieved so much with such a heavy aircraft.
The same test was also done using the Cayenne Turbo S which produces about 562 horsepower. Porsche has been pretty much on the forefront when it comes to making one Guinness world record after the another. The latest being the Cayenne pulling the A380 and they may continue to do more so as to showcase their prowess in the performance and the horsepower produced by their cars.
