The Sims 5 Release Date Rumors Break Online Once Again

The Sims 5

The rumors speculating The Sims 5 release date have emerged once more and this time, they claim the game might be released early than expected. However, neither the publisher Electronic Arts nor the developer Maxis has come out to give concrete information about when the fifth installment in The Sims series will hit the stores.

The rumors and speculations about the release date for the life-simulating video game have been emerging online since the latest game in the series was released back in 2014.  Nonetheless, these are just rumors with no concrete information to attest, in fact, there is no assurance as to whether The Sims 5 will be developed leave alone releasing.

As for what is known, Maxis delivers the series after every five years and if that is to remain then The Sims 5 release date will probably be sometime in 2019. The latest and the final amusement in the series, The Sims 4 was released in 2014. Sequentially, The Sims came in 2002, followed by The Sims 2 in 2004, then came The Sims 3 in 2009 and finally The Sims 4 was released in 2014.

Maxis producer Grant Rodiek said that the market feat of The Sims 4 will determine whether The Sims 5 will be made or not. Unluckily, the latest instalment did not meet expectations; the game scored only 70 percent in the MetaCritic, a performance (negative reviews and ratings) which The Sims officials feel is the sole cause for the poor sales. However, the series may not be as popular as the likes of Pokémon Go as at the moment, but there are fans who have followed the series since 2002 and are apparently eagerly waiting for the fifth installment.

The Sims 5

We also know that The Sims series is only available on Mac and PC platforms. However, currently there are a lot of gamers on consoles who are hungry for more games and schematic developers are surely taking advantage of that. Thus, porting the game to console, Xbox One, and the PS4, will widen the range of players and also give The Sims 4 an equal chance to compete with other games.

Most gamers prefer consoles to PCs due to high prices for good gaming PCs, plus the latter requires upgrading after a while. A good gaming PC costs up to between $1000 and $2000 while consoles cost below $500. If the Maxis can integrate The Sims on consoles, then The Sims 4 market performance will shoot and we could see The Sims 5 sometime in the future.
