A brand new spy shot of the 2017 Kia Picanto got leaked online and it has given buyers the first glimpse of the sporty design the team is going for.
As with most spy shots, the major part of the car is heavily camouflaged. The design aspects can still be spotted and the city car looks very stylish when compared to its outgoing model. The new Picanto promises the best interiors with ample space for its buyers and has been designed to look more sporty than the Hyundai i10. The front fascia of the car sports a gaping, large front grille and the front bumper is beefier than it has ever been on a Kia car. Additional chrome detailing adds up to the overall appeal.
Kia has retained the Tiger Nose grille which is part of their lineup for many years now. The spy shots are of the five-door 2017 Kia Picanto. It was captured when the car was being tested on the roads. Majority of the car is masked with a heavy camouflage to ensure details don’t get leaked before the official big reveal. It is expected to be launched at the Geneva Motor show slated to take place in 2017.
With a minor increase in length and width, passengers will have more space to sit and it also contributes to a considerable increase in boot space. The dashboard, center console and specific interior assets are redesigned to make it worthy to be addressed as the 2017 edition. Kia is planning to reduce the number of buttons on the dashboard and make them into touch sensitive controls.
The spy shot not only covers the exterior of the car but there is a specific shot of the interior as well. High quality materials are now being used to construct the dashboard and the seats are all wrapped with partial leather material. These components add to the luxurious finish of this budget, compact car. While buyers may have the option to go for full leather finish and other top-end components, it will be reserved for the expensive top of the line variants.
The powertrain is mated with a five-speed manual gearbox system. If you prefer an automatic gearbox, the manufacturer does offer it as an upgrade. The car’s base mode will have a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that can deliver up to 65 horsepower. The pricing is expected to be around £8,500 and will be available in the mid of 2017.
