Samsung has a lot of devices in the smartphone market and it can be tough knowing which is which, at least from their looks and names.
But when it comes to the model numbers, you can easily tell which Sammy device you are dealing with, which is the case with the latest mystery Samsung Galaxy smartphone that has model number SM-G615F/DS.
If you have been keen with Samsung devices, you’ll likely guess that this device has a lot to do with the Galaxy On series. The last time Sammy released a Galaxy On device was last year and it came with model number SM-G610. This is the Galaxy On7 2016, although the same device exists in other markets as the Galaxy J7 Prime. The original Galaxy On7 carried model number SM-G600 and now that we have a phone with model number SM-G615, it would be safe to assume that this is indeed a new Galaxy On series phone, but at this point, we don’t know which one it is.
The Wi-Fi Alliance has confirmed that this unknown Samsung Galaxy SM-G615F/DS device will come preinstalled with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Even though these are the only details the listing gives out, previous leaks about the same device gave us a clue of what specs and features to expect.
A listing on GFXBench says that this Samsung Galaxy SM-G615F handset will come in with a huge 5.7-inch display screen, slightly bigger than the 5.5-inch used on the Galaxy On7 2016, but keep the same full HD resolution. Under the hood, the report claims this phone will have a MediaTek MT6757 SoC that is clocked at 2.3GHz and is paired with a 3GB RAM.
There’s 32GB of storage, which should be expandable via a microSD card. The listing further claims that the mysterious Sammy device will also come with a 12MP shooter on the back and front. Interestingly, a Geekbench listing regarding the same phone carrying model number SM-G615F has a few variations. For instance, the processor is a custom-made octa-core clocked at 1.69GHz, but the RAM stays at 3GB.
In terms of software, both benchmarks agree that this Samsung Galaxy SM-G615F/DS will come preinstalled with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, which is a great thing for a budget phone.
