Verizon users of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ can finally have something to smile about thanks to the fact that the giant American carrier is now pushing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to these two devices.
Released last year, both Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ started receiving the Marshmallow update a while ago. However, this was only happening in the phone’s home country of South Korea as well as other parts of the world including Canada and some parts of Europe. However, due to the usual delays associated with carriers, it means that some users of Verizon are yet to receive the Marshmallow update on their Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ smartphones, despite the carrier having already made the operating system available.
In usual circumstances, software updates don’t reach all devices at the same time. This means that not all users of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be receiving the Marshmallow update ion their Verizon devices at once. The process will be gradual and as a result, it will reach some users earlier than others. While some Verizon users of these two phablets might already have updated to the latest operating system, there are probably lots of others who haven’t updated their devices just yet. If you haven’t received the update, there is really nothing to worry about for it will be coming your way very soon.
But if you can’t play the waiting game, there is a manual way of doing things. Head to your phone’s Settings and tap on About device. While in there, look out for the Software updates option and tap on it. The device will scan the web for an available download and notify you to download and install it, in case its ready. Once you download the software and install it on your Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+, the software version of the former will jump to MMB29K.N920VVRU2BPC2 while the latter’s version will jump to MMB29K.G928VVRU2BPC2.
The Marshmallow update brings features such as Google Now on Tap, better apps permissions management as well as the Doze mode. In addition, the curved Galaxy S6 Edge+ get some updates on the Notification panel as well as some enhancements to the Edge panel. There is also a new Live Broadcast feature as well as improved app searches.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ users will also be able to take full advantage of Verizon’s Wi-Fi calling services once they’ve updated to the latest operating system.
