Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has begun showing up in the rumor mills ahead of its release, probably in the second half of the year – just like the Redmi Note 4.
The phone, as expected, comes in to succeed the Redmi Note 4 and with this in mind, many expect quite an upgraded set of features and specs, including the design. While there might be some changes in the specs and features of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, don’t expect revolutionary changes to the design of the phone, especially since the Note 4 is still a beauty to look at and hold.
According to incoming reports, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has supposedly passed the FCC. At this moment, it is not yet confirmed if indeed this device is the alleged Redmi Note 5, but from the look of things, it is very close to the Redmi Note series.
In the leaked info, it has been revealed that this mysterious device will ship with a 5.5-inch screen with a Full HD resolution, same as last year’s Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. However, there will be changes under the hood, with Xiaomi reportedly going back to Qualcomm for the processor of this year’s Redmi Note 5 – a Snapdragon 652 SoC. However, there are also reports that the phone will still come with an Helio X25 model.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will come in two memory variants – a 32GB and 64GB model. With this in mind, expect to see more than just the 4GB RAM variant that has so far been mooted. Unlike last year where the base model had 2GB RAM, it is possible that this year’s Note 5 could come with 3GB RAM on the base model, which should also be the model that ships with 32GB of internal storage.
Like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, we expect to see a 16MP snapper on the back of the upcoming Redmi Note 5 while the front should be installed with an 8MP snapper. Even though not confirmed, don’t expect anything less than 4000mAh for the battery with support for fast charging technology. As for the price of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi is not expected to deviate too far away from what it valued the Redmi Note 4. This means that the former could come in with a price tag of about $200.
The leaker is still unsure whether this is indeed the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 or a Snapdragon variant of the Redmi Note 4. But this should be clear sooner than later and we’ll be here to let you know what’s up!
