On the inside, you will find that the car uses a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine which has dual intake and lower friction rate. The powertrain can easily deliver up to 471 horsepower making it a beast on the road. Earlier, the auto brand said that they will be bring about 467 hp but with the right team and a lot of tweaking to the V8, they have extracted much better performance from the same powertrain.
The engine has 398 lb feet of torque which is once again higher than the capacity proposed earlier. Lexus shared a lot about the 2018 LC 500 at the North American International Auto Show 2016 edition. The event took place in the month of January this year during which Lexus had some interesting info to share about the LC 500. Not many brands can boast of such an improvement since the original announcement. Lexus is offering more than what they promised during the auto show reveal.
The brand is about to offer multiple versions of the car so as to reach buyers in different segments. The LC 500h is one among them which is a hybrid variant powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine and has an electric motor. When combined, the powertrains offer 354 horsepower making it a decent performer on the road. Instead of going for the usual CVT, the designers have introduced a multi-stage hybrid system that allows 10 different gear ratios for better fuel efficiency and boosted performance.
While both the 2018 Lexus LC 500 and the LC 500h are going to be sold around the globe, the brand expects over eighty percent of their sales to take place in United States. The hybrid however is geared towards buyers in China. The country has been active in adopting the new technology and Lexus is going to make the most out of the situation.
Pricing for the model has not been confirmed yet. The LC 500 is expected to be close to $90,000. The brand’s top executives are confident that most buyers will go for the LC 500h hybrid model which may have a price tag higher than $100,000. Four different trim lines including base, sport, touring and sport plus are confirmed for the 2018 Lexus LC 500.
