Blu Pure XR with Android Marshmallow, 3D Touch and 5.5-inch Full HD Display Launched

The open-ended nature of Android has seen dozens of OEMs jump onto the smartphone bandwagon. Founded in 2009, Blu has had a turbulent ride in the smartphone world that has seen it accused of patent infringements by BlackBerry, but this hasn’t deterred the American company.

In a move that is aimed at further cementing its place as a company that offers top smartphones at very affordable prices, a new Blu Pure XR smartphone has been launched. The phone comes in two color variants of Grey and Gold.

As far as the specs are concerned, Blu Pure XR comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display screen that gives a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. In case you didn’t know, this is the same screen size and resolution you find on the highly rated OnePlus 3, however, Blu went for slightly older Gorilla Glass 3 technology as far as protecting the screen is concerned.

Even though everyone is busy watching out for budget handsets that come preinstalled with Android 7.0 Nougat, Blu Pure XR still rocks last year’s Android Marshmallow – an OS that is still rolling out to most mid-rangers and entry-level phones of Pure XR’s caliber. Under the hood, the American company went for an Helio P10 SoC that is produced by MediaTek. This is somehow unusual for an American company, however, it is worth noting that Blu devices are only designed in the U.S. but the main production process takes place in China.

Further under the hood, the Blu Pure XR smartphone brings some of the best hardware specs you can dream of on an entry-level phone. You get a massive RAM of 4GB that is paired with 64GB of onboard storage. Although there is room for microSD card storage, the phone can only handle cards of up to 64GB.

Blu went for a decent 16MP snapper on the back of the Pure XR, which also comes with a LED flash. The front panel packs an 8MP wide-angle lens camera, which should also deliver great photography, even though the number of megapixels doesn’t really matter when it comes to quality of pictures produced. The phone supports 4G LTE and 3G connectivity.

To keep the 5.5-inch screen alive, the Blu Pure XR smartphone comes with a 3000mAh battery unit that can also be fast charged via Quick Charge. Other notable features of the phone include USB Type-C port, 3D Touch sensitivity, a fingerprint scanner and a metallic unibody.
