Nintendo NX alongside Sony’s PlayStation Neo and Microsoft’s Xbox One S are among the most anticipated upcoming consoles in 2016. The consoles are making players hyped and they are itching to see how the next generation consoles will compare to one another.
PlayStation consoles are known for being very powerful same to Microsoft’s Xbox series. However, Nintendo NX will be an equally powerful device and it’s rumored to be powered by Tegra X2 Chip. There are a lot of rumors and speculations about new features the new console will bring to the market but we have only manage to confirm the release date and some titles.
Nintendo has been mean with information concerning NX. However, we are now sure, at least, about the release date. Nintendo NX is slated for March 10, 2017, and not during this Christmas period as reported earlier. The new console will also cost between $250 and $350.
Nintendo said that the console will be different but the developers are reluctant to give more information. However, some reports claim to have a hint of how the NX hardware will look like. According to Eurogamer, NX will be a console-handheld hybrid, that is, between portable and home unit. The game will also come with detachable controllers.
Five games confirmed for NX
As for now, five titles have been confirmed for release on the new console. First, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been confirmed for the console. The latest Zelda game will be released for both Wii U and NX as confirmed by the developer. The second game confirmed is Dragon Quest X, the instalment will hit PS4, NX, and 3DS at the same time. The third game for the console is Dragon Quest XI, the game developers confirmed the instalment will be coming to NX at E3 2016. The fourth game slated for the upcoming console is Just Dance 2017 and will be launched on the console in 2017 along other platforms. The fifth and the final game, at least for now, slated for release on NX is Holiday 2017 Sonic Game.
Apart from the already confirmed titles, several titles are also rumored to be coming on the console. Some of the games supposed to be launched on NX includes F-Zero^2, Super Smash Bros, Super Smash Bros Melee, Pokémon Gold, and Pokémon Silver. These are just but a few selected titles otherwise, the list is growing every single day. We will know more about these when Nintendo NX will be revealed on September 21.
I can’t wait! I’m definitely buying Nintendo’s upcoming console!
One feature could save Nintendo. A console that accepts accessories (such as external optical Drives & Cartridge Readers) that allow games from existing Nintendo libraries to be played on the NX… This would be a gift to Nintendo’s fan base, rejuvenate interest in Nintendo’s position in gaming history and simultaneously bring the entire weight of Nintendo’s past library behind the the NX as the standard platform of choice…
From a Technical perspective, emulating all past & present consoles is not a difficult job with intimate understanding & access to source code in firmware, operating systems and development guidelines. The required peripherals would be easy and inexpensive to produce.
From a licensing perspective, Nintendo should have little difficulties because only legitimate titles sold will be playable and achieved via the agreed platform that each publisher originally sold their games and using the original media… An incentive could be provided to past publishers with their ability to offer add-on DLC (such as additional levels, characters etc…) being sold on the NX store. Finally, no court has ever found emulation to be illegal and has been more recently legitimized by Sony and Microsoft in their own offerings.
