Porting games to PC has become such a mess in recent times but the upcoming Gears of War 4 seems to be properly optimized for Windows 10 computers and might be a good launch from the Microsoft team.
Some of the recent titles they brought to computers were worse. Many exclusives that were supposed to be on Xbox One found their way to PCs but the porting was badly done. Good examples include Ryse, Quantum Break, Gears of War Ultimate Edition and plenty more. Microsoft followed this similar trend by launching games exclusives on their console and later bringing to gamers on other platforms.
However, the new Rise of the Tomb Raider was well done and didn’t had any performance issues. Microsoft gave gamers a chance to play Gears of War 4 campaign at the Pax 2016 event. The game ran on a PC and it was marvelous to look at. The frame rates were much higher which we assume was not locked to 30 FPS as done on Xbox One console.
Using a keyboard and mouse to aim and shoot was equally fun. While the movement wasn’t as fluid and pre-defined when done using an analog stick on an Xbox One controller, the mouse’s level of precision was too high to match. When we had the opportunity to play the game, it felt really good and ran like it was supposed to be on the Windows 10 computer.
The developers wouldn’t have optimized it for one configuration. We are sure that the same level of fluidity would be experienced by most gamers irrespective of the hardware you use. Nvidia usually have an upper hand with their graphic cards. AMD has made a lot of changes and we will know how good Gears of War 4 runs on machines that use the latest AMD cards.
During a recent interview, developers of the game confirmed that they have designed it from the scratch to run extremely well on Xbox One controllers. But, while playing the game using a keyboard and mouse we hardly felt the difference. There was no discomfort in completing levels and taking down aliens using a mouse.
While you could enjoy a more relaxed experience by lying on a couch and playing it on the big screen HDTV, the PC version of Gears of War 4 offers a hardcore, action packed adventure that is hugely satisfying.
