Gears of War 4 is a huge exclusive about to land on Xbox One and PC on October 11th.
The console title is going to be on Windows 10 PCs for the first time.
Microsoft launched the first ever Gears of War on PC a decade ago and its ultimate edition. It came later after the official launch. Exclusives have always been the system sellers for Microsoft and Sony. In a surprising move, the company decided to bring them all to PCs except for Halo 5 Guardians. But, there’s Halo 5 Forge tools that you can use to create custom maps and play in limited 16-player multiplayer matches.
Gears of War 4 which is about to hit both platforms is an action packed game to look forward to. But, the developers confirmed that they are going to make it optimized for the controllers first and keyboard/ mouse combo next. The game is best experienced using an Xbox One controller, according to the developer team.
“We have always worked with the controllers as the primary input. While we do use keyboard and mouse in our studio,people who play on controllers are our focus. Besides, many of the controls and the actions that take place in the game is designed to make best use of the input device. You can’t feel the pace and the immersion when playing on a keyboard because it is not a first person shooter,” said Ryan Cleven, lead designer at The Coalition.
The team has also decided to not allow cross platform multiplayer between PC and Xbox One gamers. The keyboard and mouse is more precise when it comes to aiming. It might disrupt the gameplay experience. The Coalition crew is going to keep both servers separate from one another. If PC gamers prefer to enjoy multiplayer using an Xbox One controller, they are welcome to do so.
“We can’t balance PC versus Xbox One right now. Both of them are independent platforms. Our team felt it is best to make PC players compete against other PC players. They can choose whichever input they like to. The game has been internally tuned to feel best and balanced with a controller. After all, it is how Gears of War 4 should be as the franchise started off that way. No online competition between these two gamers exist that made things easy for us,” added Cleven.
Gears of War 4 will be available with a special edition Xbox One S console which might probably be sold out by now.
