Google Nexus 2016

There is no doubt that quite a lot of information about the upcoming Google Nexus 2016 phones is already known to many thanks to numerous leaks and speculations coming from renowned figures in the business.

The specs, designs, features, as well as software details, are quite clear, but there haven’t been clear details of what price tag will be slammed on the two handsets that HTC is making. Renders of the Marlin and Sailfish have been seen all over the web in addition to their supposed hardware configurations. According to the leaks, the Google Nexus 2016 phones will come with the same hardware specs, but with minor differences when it comes to the display screen and the build material.

To further cement the speculations that the two Nexus 2016 phones will basically be premium handsets that fit two different categories as far as screen sizes are concerned, the latest reports have all but confirmed the price tags of the upcoming handsets. One thing to keep in mind is that the source is not Google nor HTC, so, you might want to spare the joy a little bit.

Nonetheless, the information comes from sources close to the matter, with claims that the upcoming handsets will be pricier than last year’s pair. For starters, be informed that last year’s Nexus 5X had a 16GB base model, something that has been upgraded to 32GB on this year’s Sailfish. As for the Marlin – Nexus 6P successor – the base model is still at 32GB. In this regards, the leaked report claims that the smaller Nexus 2016 Sailfish will be priced at $449 while the Marlin will come in at $599.

Google Nexus 2016 vs Nexus 6P

If the company decides to come in with models that pack more onboard storage, there prices will naturally be higher. In comparison, the Nexus 6P debuted with a price tag of $499 while the 32GB variant of the Nexus 5X was valued at $429.

If any of the rumors doing rounds materializes, the Nexus 2016 Sailfish will pack a 5.2-inch Full HD screen, a Snapdragon 820 SoC, a RAM of 4GB and cameras of 13MP and 8MP on the back and front, respectively. You also get a battery unit of 2770mAh, which is charged via a USB Type-C port. As usual, a new OS will come preinstalled on the device, which is Android Nougat.

As for the Nexus 2016 Marlin, expect a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display with a Snapdragon 820 or the newer 821, same 4GB RAM as well as 13MP/8MP camera configuration. The battery unit will stand at 3450mAh with support for USB-C connectivity. Like its counterpart, the Marlin will also come preinstalled with Android Nougat out of the box.
