iPhone 7 Kills the Headphone Jack but Comes with a Silver Lining –  Stepping into a Future without Ports

iPhone 7 Kills the Headphone Jack

For quite sometime now, there have been rumors that the iPhone 7 will no longer come with a headphone jack.

The new iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus will be debuting some time next week and will come packed with innovative features. However, the focus is more on the two major problems in the new lineup.

Packed with Innovation

The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are eagerly awaited and will be released next week. The phones will come with new technology and enhanced cameras, supposed to be the world’s best ones. The phones will also sport the new A10 processor of the company and they are expected to easily blow away the competitors.

Problems in the iPhone 7 Lineup

The design is the first problem. Many users feel that the design of the new devices is very similar to the previous generation phones. This seems to be valid enough, but just because the design is similar, it does not mean that the phones do not have anything interesting to offer. The second problem is that there is no standard or regular headphone jack for the phones.

The SilverLining

There are no announcements from the company till now, so there is absolutely no confirmation about the specs of the next gen iPhones, the iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus. However, it is fairly certain that the new phones will not come with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. This means that users will not be able to plug their usual headphones in the new iPhone.

SilverLining

This could be considered as a bad thing, but it seems Apple is planning to include the 3.5 mm to the Lightning adapter of new phones in the box. Users can then use their headphones for connecting to the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus as well, just as they connect to their current iPhone 6 or the 6S Plus.

Reasons for Upgrading

The design of the new iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus is thinner and it also offers improved resistance to water. It also offers the first step towards the near future with no ports on your phone. Users who upgrade to the new iPhones and buy the Lightning headphones can experience a better quality of sound. In addition, the new move by Apple will encourage other companies also to include the Lightning connector, thereby offering improved devices.

Influx of Audio Products

Apple has used the Lightning connector on its iOS phones and devices for several years now, but now there will be an influx of improved audio products due to the use of the digital Lightning conductor of the company. All this is because the new iPhones will not come with the standard 3.5 mm port.

The Drawbacks

The drawbacks are that users have to resort to Lightning headphones and give up their old headphones. They can only connect these headphones to an Apple device, but the benefits sure weigh the negatives down.
