The upcoming LG V20 may just be more than a replacement for the current generation LG V10.

This new device is expected to bring in a long list of ‘firsts’ to the industry starting with the operating system. Google officially confirmed that LG V20 will be the first device coming with the Android Nougat operating system out of the box. This comes as a major surprise especially given that new versions of android have come out on Nexus devices in recent times. LG V20 may be a worthy product of this status if rumors do turn out to be true.

LG have been teasing a lot about the phone’s audio capabilities. It is highly rumored that LG V20 will be the device that brings 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC sound support for the first time in a smartphone. This high quality audio experience on the phone is expected to be made even better by LG’s partnership with high end audio maker Bang & Olufsen. There is even a possibility that the device will have the option to have Bang & Olufsen headphones at an additional price. In other regards, the phone is expected to be a minor improvement over the predecessor.

This especially applies to the 5.7-inch screen with QHD resolution. This display will be assisted by a secondary screen just above the top of the primary display. Measuring just 2.1 inches in size, this screen will provide a pixel density of 160 x 1040 pixels, and it will be used to display a variety of notifications, shortcuts, and frequently called numbers depending on the preference. The location of the screen, though, is likely to make it an ideal candidate for being an always on notification center. Due to its non-ergonomic position, users will find it difficult to make use of the shortcuts.

A big change is likely to be the step up from the snapdragon 808 processor into the 820 range, which is considered as being more stable and generates less heat. The micro-USB port is also likely to be replaced by the USB Type-C port. Rumors are also predicting an enormous increase in battery size from 3000 mAh to 4000 mAh. This should be more than enough to last the phone for almost 2 days if the user is careful with his usage. Shipping with Android Nougat out of the box is likely to be the biggest advantage in favor of the LG V20 right now.
