Sony Xperia XR and X Compact Specifications Leaked Ahead of IFA 2016

Xperia XR

Sony have been highly expected to launch two new smartphones at an upcoming IFA 2016.

One of the devices is the product with a model number F8331. Several specifications of the device have come out already, but the best possible leaks have just come to announce the arrival of Sony Xperia XR and Xperia X Compact. These will be the two new phones launched by Sony at the IFA 2016, which takes place in Berlin. There is a slight possibility that the XR will be launched as the XZ, but these are minor issues in the overall scheme of things.

The two phones are expected to provide class leading specifications as usual, but the key element may be the price. Sony has been criticized of overpricing their high end smartphones in the last 12 months. The likes of the Xperia X and Xperia Performance are great devices when their prices are not taken into account. The leaked specifications of the Sony Xperia XR sure that the device comes with a 5.2-inch screen – with probably the same full HD resolution as seen in the high-end devices from the company – with slightly improved RAM and camera specifications.

Xperia X Compact

The Sony Xperia XR will come with 4 GB of RAM and assisted by a snapdragon 820 processor. These will represent class leading specifications for the phone, which has a 23-megapixel camera in the rear and a 13-megapixel camera in the front. Regular Sony enthusiasts and users will be aware of the 23-megapixel rear camera and its capabilities, but the front facing 13-megapixel camera should be a game changer. The rear camera has an improvement in the auto focus technique as it now relies upon lasers to do the job.

The slightly smaller Sony Xperia X Compact will stick to the philosophy adopted with the recent Compact phones from the Japanese smartphone manufacturer. It will have a 4.6-inch screen for which the power is supplied by a 2700 mAh battery. Even though leaks suggest that the Xperia X Compact will have 4 GB of RAM, it is also possible that Sony will go by its tradition with compact models and come out with a slightly smaller 3 GB of RAM. Thankfully, the use of the snapdragon 820 processor means that the Xperia X Compact will be capable in terms of performance. Both phones, however, are expected to use the new USB Type-C ports.
