Along with 5 new civilizations, the DLC will introduce 3 additional campaigns and 6 units.
Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition will soon get a new DLC in the form of The Three Kingdoms. This new expansion will be integrated with the game in May this year. At the moment, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition players have the option of pre-ordering it at a discounted price.
Launched in 2019, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition was designed as a remastered version of Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings, which came out in 1999. On the 20th anniversary of the original game, the remastered version was launched. Just five months after the last expansion was released, another expansion for the game has been unveiled by Xbox Game Studios. The upcoming DLC, as the name suggests, has been modelled on the Three Kingdoms of China prevalent in third-century China. The expansion, among other things, will introduce players to five new Age of Empires 2: DE civilizations in the form of Shu, Wei, Wu, Jurchens, and Khitans. It will also come equipped with three additional campaigns and six new units. May 6 is when this new expansion is scheduled to be launched.
The upcoming expansion will also mark the arrival of some units in the form of Hei Guang Cavalry and Traction Trebuchets. Fans can also look forward to Lou Chuans, which is designed to be a ‘floating fortress’. In The Three Kingdoms, Dragon Ships would be the second new naval unit. Through this DLC, Rocket Carts and Fire Lancers, too, will be introduced.
The three new campaigns are referred to as Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and The Sun Clan. Ecah of these campaigns will revolve around a dedicated civilization. While Liu Bei will have Shu, The Sun Clan and Cao Cao will be based on Wu and Wei. All the Age of Empires 2 campaigns released so far have had storylines driven by betrayal, war and drama. One expects the same from this new campaign.

PlayStation users, too, have the option of placing an order for the DLC in advance. However, to do this, they will have to shell out $99.99 for the Premium Edition of the Age of Empires 2: DE PS5 port, which will come out on May 6.
Those who have been playing Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition have a lot of things to look forward to. Before April comes to an end, fans can look forward to the arrival of another base game update. The new patch will bring to the fore enhanced castle visuals, technology tree UI updates, new maps, balancing changes and support for random map scripting.
