Fallout 5: Fans Ask For The Inclusion of the Settlement Building Feature in the Game

Fallout 5

The addition of this feature would encourage players to use their creativity and critical thinking skills more.

While Bethesda has confirmed that it is working towards developing Fallout 5, one has to wait for a while to see the game being ready for launch. At the moment, one barely knows anything about the game. However, based on the pattern the games in the franchise have followed so far, one believes the game will have several important characteristics of its predecessors. As a studio, Bethesda has been a firm believer in legacy and tradition. Therefore, one expects it to incorporate several elements from the earlier games in the series in Fallout 5.

If one goes by the chatter of fans in online communities, the settlement system is that one mechanic that could play an important role in the success of the game.

While Skyrim and Starfield have their own base-building systems, the settlement system, designed by players, continues to be an innovative mechanic that stands out on its own. These settlements work quite well as customizable entities for friendly NPCs. Many of these NPCs, as fans would be aware, operate as quest-givers or merchants.

While some players never really warmed up to the settlements, one cannot deny the fact that they have played an important role in enhancing the role-playing experience offered by the game. These settlements give players the opportunity to add some value to society instead of being just another wanderer.

Just like any other feature, the settlement feature in Fallout 4 has its share of shortcomings. While using it, a lot of players feel that it comes across as anticlimactic. One cannot deny the fact that this feature works very well for players who wish to strengthen their creativity and base-building skills. However, it holds limited appeal for those who get drawn to a traditional RPG that is more focused in its approach. Many players have been of the opinion that the rewards they get do not measure up to the efforts they put in.

Fallout 5 could benefit greatly by incorporating the settlement-building feature of Fallout 4. It could improve upon it and take necessary measures to ensure it fits in well in the world of Fallout 5.

Disparate factions have featured prominently in Bethesda’s RPG and working on this aspect further could help in making Fallout 5 more interesting. By getting the opportunity to expand a territory for a faction, the game would become much more interesting for the player.

The locales created by the players would have a direct impact on the game. It would also enhance the agility and critical thinking abilities of the player. By putting more emphasis on certain aspects like defensive structures, the developers could make the game more dynamic through this feature.
