According to Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden, Bethesda has started the process of developing the game.

As per an industry insider, Fallout 5 has been “fully greenlit”. The Fallout series started streaming on Amazon Prime Video in April 2024. Since then, the demand to see a Fallout 5 come to life has increased exponentially.

The TV show, without a doubt, has played an important role in expanding the player base of the franchise. It is, therefore, a good time for Bethesda to start making the preparations to roll out Fallout 5.

Launched by Interplay Entertainment in 1997, the first Fallout went on to become a huge success. In all these years, one has seen Fallout emerge as one of the most successful gaming franchises. After a while, Bethesda acquired the rights to the franchise.

The studio put in a lot of effort to ensure the content in the Bethesda games stood out and the franchise went from strength to strength with time. Fallout 4, which came out in 2015, has managed to sell more than 12 million copies till date. Since the last entry in the franchise came out, fans have been wanting to see a glimpse of Fallout 5.

While speaking in a new episode of Xbox Two Podcast, Jez Corden, who serves as the executive editor of Windows Central, spoke about how the Fallout franchise is expected to grow in the future. During this podcast, Corden stated that he does not have clarity on which studio will be entrusted with the responsibility of developing Fallout 5. At the moment, most of the gaming professionals employed with Bethesda are caught up with the developmental process of The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield’s DLC.

Corden further stated that Project Blackbird had to bear the brunt of Fallout 5 getting confirmed. If one goes by Corden’s statements, a lot of money would have to be pumped in to put together the Project Blackbird MMO.

Once put together, it would have been difficult for it to compete with games that had already been established. Taking the Fallout franchise ahead would have been a much safer move.

Despite a lot of buzz being around Fallout 5, one does not know much about the game at the moment. Recent rumors have suggested that multiple titles are being developed by Bethesda. Jordan Middler, who happens to be a noted journalist, recently stated that the studio has begun the process of developing the new Fallout game.
