Samsung is working on the launch of its Galaxy S25 series comprising the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra.
The smartphones are slated to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 chipset. Going by earlier reports, the Galaxy S25 series will come in different RAM and storage options with 12 GB as the minimum RAM supported. The earlier Galaxy S24 lineup had 8 GB RAM as the starting option. According to a post by tipster Jukanlosreve, the increased RAM will not affect the prices of the handsets when compared to the corresponding models in the S24 series.
Reasons for Extra RAM
One reason for Samsung to increase the RAM by 4 GB is the incorporation of AI in its upcoming smartphones. The manufacturer is introducing the Galaxy AI feature to meet the continuous demands of customers for AI features on its handsets. The extra 4 GB RAM is speculated to bring in promising AI performance enhancements.
Interestingly, Samsung is not the first manufacturer to offer a RAM increase. Google adopted the same trend with its Pixel 9 lineup. The base Pixel 9 variant was packed with 12 GB RAM as the starting option. On the other hand, the higher-end Pixel 9 Pro as well as 9 Pro XL housed 16 GB RAM irrespective of the storage. This RAM increase has helped users experience smooth and seamless functioning of the AI-powered features.
Along with the specifications, the renders of the base Galaxy S25 and the top-end Galaxy S25 Ultra have also been leaked. They indicate that the handsets will have a thinner profile when compared to the preceding Galaxy S24 lineup.
The Galaxy S25 series may make its debut in the market earlier than anticipated. The Galaxy S24 was priced at USD 799 whilst the Galaxy S4 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra came with price tags of USD 999 and USD 1,299 respectively.
