Samsung has rolled out the January 2024 security update for a few of its Galaxy smartphones.
The update addresses several security-related vulnerabilities on Galaxy smartphones and multiple vulnerabilities related to Android. The update can be downloaded and installed manually using a Windows PC and the Odin tool or through the ‘Download and install’ option in the ‘Software update’ section in the ‘Settings’ app.
Galaxy Z Flip 6
The update is at present available for the factory-unlocked and carrier-locked Galaxy Z Flip 6 variants in the United States with the model numbers SM-F741U1 and SM-F741U respectively.

The firmware version for the factory-unlocked smartphones is F741U1UES2AXLF while that of the carrier-locked handsets is F741USQS2AXLF.
Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition
Although the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is available only in limited numbers and in two countries, Samsung has rolled out the update for the month for this smartphone with the firmware version F958NKSS2AXLF. Interestingly the handset has been receiving a software update every month ever since it was released.
Galaxy Z Fold 4
The software update is right now available only in the United States for the carrier-locked variants with the SM-F936U model number. It is associated with the firmware version F936USQS7GXLF.
Galaxy S24 Series
The Galaxy S24 series featuring the Galaxy S24 S24+, and S24 Ultra are the first set of smartphones to receive the update that is right now available only for carrier-locked smartphones in the United States and handsets in Korea with Android 14 as well as One UI 6.1 or One UI 6.1.1. The lineup with Android 15 and One UI 7 beta updates received the January 2025 security update earlier.

The update for the series has AXL1 or AXL2 at the end of the build number.
Galaxy S22 Lineup
The carrier-unlocked variants of the Galaxy S22 lineup in the United States with the model numbers SM-S901U1, SM-S906U1, and SM-S908U1 have started receiving the update. The software update is associated with the firmware versions S901U1UES7EXL8, S906U1UES7EXL8, and S908U1UES7EXL8.
