Now that 26 May 2026 has been penciled in as the official release date of GTA 6, one does not expect it to get shifted further. However, fans still want to know more to know about the game. Though Rockstar Games has released two trailers for the game already, they were too brief and left fans wanting more.
In the last few years, one has heard several rumors pertaining to GTA 6. One has also seen several leaks coming through. Until and unless a game arrives in its final form, there is no way to determine if a leak was genuine or not. However, there are times when the information contained in a leak seems genuine and manages to evoke a sense of excitement or curiosity among players. Recently, somebody pointed out that a portion of the GTA 6 map can be traced in the Doomsday Heist of GTA: Online, which came out in 2017. Initially, this declaration made a section of the fans get excited at the prospect of discovering something new about the much-awaited game. However, once they started reading between the lines, they realized there was not much substance to it.
If one goes through a particular Reddit post, one gets an idea about the amount of criticism this GTA 6 map leak received.
One of the users confidently asserted that this is not the GTA 6 map. They further pointed out that The Doomsday DLC came out in 2017 and the developmental work on it started years before that. This was a time when GTA 6 must have been an idea that Rockstar was working on. As per the Reddit user, there is no chance of Rockstar rendering the map in the engine at that time.

After some investigation, it was discovered that the image featured a Chernobog, which happens to be one of the helicopters seen in the game. In the image, one can see the helicopter parked closer to the bushes. When some players saw it for the first time, they assumed it to be a body of water that resembled something they had earlier witnessed in another GTA 6 leak.
For the longest time, fans had been waiting for Rockstar Games to offer a glimpse into the map of GTA 6. If one goes through the discussions taking place in online communities, one realizes there have been a lot of conversations on the scale and size of the map. The way things stand right now, one feels one would have to wait for GTA 6 to come out to have a good look at the map it features.
