GTA 6: Game Might Support 60 FPS Exclusively on One Console

GTA 6

While fans were expecting this to be done across the board, that does not seem to be happening!

In less than a year, one will get to witness the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. The game, which has been in the development process for a while, is being keenly awaited by the entire community. When it is launched worldwide on 26 May 2026, it is expected to break old sales records and set new ones.

Apart from the locations expected to feature on it and the kind of storytelling it will offer, the one aspect of GTA 6 that has been discussed constantly is its performance benchmark on different consoles.

A video, which has just been shared online, has led to speculations about the game supporting 60 frames-per-second (fps) gameplay on certain consoles.

A report published in GizmoChina states that an X user, who identifies themselves as Detective Seeds, spoke about the possibility of GTA 6 running at 60 fps on the PlayStation 4 Pro.

The user also stated that Rockstar Games is diligently working with Sony to get the game optimized for the PlayStation 5 Pro. Once this happens, GTA 6 players would be able to witness higher performance on different graphic settings.

If the aforementioned information turns out to be true, one would see a major shift in the console strategy employed by Rockstar Games Red Dead Redemption 2, just like GTA 5, released with a cap of 20 fps on consoles. Support for 60 fps happened a little later and this support was extended only on PC. Xbox Series X and PS5 should be providing gamers with the standard 30 fps experience. Those hoping for smoother gameplay might have to switch to the PS5 Pro upon GTA 6’s release.

PS5 Pro has always been positioned by Sony as a high-performing console.

The positioning of the console has been similar to the kind of approach Microsoft opted for with titles like Forza Horizon 5 wherein one had the opportunity to toggle between performance and quality modes. If 60 fps option is extended to GTA 6, Sony will hugely benefit from it.

Till now, no official confirmation pertaining to the performance targets or enhancements related to PS5 has been provided by Rockstar Games or Sony. Whatever information that has come to the fore till now, therefore, remains pure speculation.
