No other video game to be released this year carries as much hype as Grand Theft Auto 6. In early 2022, Rockstar Games confirmed that it was working on the next iteration of the GTA franchise. However, even before the official confirmation came through, there was much excitement around the game.
In December 2023, Rockstar launched the first trailer of GTA 6. Despite having a brief runtime of 1 minute and 31 seconds, the trailer created a huge impact and traveled across the world. Apart from giving players an idea about the world of the game, it also gives them an idea about the quality of visuals they can expect from it. At the moment, the trailer has more than 240 million views.

A while back, Rockstar stated that GTA 6 will release in the fall of 2025. Despite the studio making this announcement, there were naysayers who believed that the game would not be able to secure a release for itself this year. However, to put these doubts and speculations to rest, the officials at Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, reaffirmed that the game will definitely be released this year.
Despite Rockstar confirming that GTA 6 will be released in the fall of 2025, it must be mentioned here that the gaming studio has not announced a specific release date. While some fans are wondering whether the game will be released on major consoles at the same time, some are contemplating their hardware.
Usually, pre-orders for a game start after a release date is announced. However, in the case of GTA 6, some retailers in Malaysia are following a different approach. The Gamers Hideout website features a pre-order option for GTA 6. One also has the option of visiting their store and pay in cash to book a copy.
Upon further investigation, one stumbled upon the fact that the store had fake game boxes on the shelves. One has to take it to the counter, pay the deposit amount of RM 14.90 or $3 USD, and book a copy for yourself.

It is often said that one should not pre-book a copy of a game until its release date is officially announced by the gaming studio. If the game gets further delayed, the money put down by the customer will get stuck for a long time.
