A while back, one came across reports which suggested that new-generation games could be priced around the $70 mark. As soon as these reports came to the forefront, experts and fans started talking about the kind of impact on the gaming industry.

For the longest time, games designed for N64 and PlayStation were priced between $60 and $70. In all these years, the production cost of games increased substantially but the pricing remained largely stable. The release of GTA 6 and the GTA 6 price could change a lot of things for the gaming industry.

Micheal Douse, who serves as the director of publishing for Baldur’s Gate 3, is of the opinion that Rockstar Games will end up charging more than $70 for GTA 6. This, in turn, would have a direct impact on the pricing trends in the gaming industry. There is a good possibility of other games being offered at a higher price in the near future.

On X, the gaming executive stated that most games should be priced a little higher at the base level as producing them is “outpacing pricing trend”. Douse had earlier discussed the issue of several gaming titles promising to offer a lot of content in the future but end up offering “ultimate editions” at a higher price. As per Douse, a game’s price should be determined by its “quality, breadth and depth.”
