Gamers, who were worried about GTA 6 getting a staggered release, can heave a sigh of relief now.

A while back, Rockstar Games confirmed that GTA 6 will be launched in the fall of 2025. While fans were feeling quite excited with this announcement, many wondered whether the much-awaited game would get a simultaneous release on multiple platforms at the same time. This concern stemmed from the fact that one had heard rumors about the game getting a delayed release on certain platforms.

Now, to ease out the anxiety fans have been going through, Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will be launched on PlayStation, Xbox and PC at the same time. While this would come as a huge relief for fans, it also makes one believe that Rockstar is now ready to move away from the kind of release strategies it has followed in the past.

Back in the day, fans were irked when Rockstar launched a game on different platforms on different days. Those who would get the game delivered a little late would be upset about not getting to try out the game on the day many got the opportunity to experience it. Experts have, time and again, pointed out how this practice leads to several support and optimization-based challenges.

By making the decision to release GTA 6 on all leading platforms at the same time, Rockstar has made a point about trying to adopt inclusive practices and making a conscious effort towards addressing the issues and grievances put forward by gamers.

Releasing a game simultaneously on multiple platforms benefits a gaming studio in different ways. Apart from boosting the sales for a gaming title, this practice ensures that the efforts to pirate the game are curbed significantly. When a large number of people try out the game on multiple platforms, it also leads to greater buzz being generated around it. The online community of a game gets much stronger when such practices are followed by gaming studios.

In the past, one associated the titles launched by Rockstar with platform-specific delays. In 2013, GTA 5 got an initial launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It arrived on next-generation consoles a little later. Those who wanted to play the game on PC had to wait much longer.

Not all is bad about a staggered release though. After releasing a game on a particular platform, the publisher can work towards improving it after taking some feedback into account. Once the game arrives on other platforms, one can expect to see a more improved version of it. The gaming community, however, always wishes for a game to be released simultaneously on all platforms.
