The iOS 18 update released in September this year allows iPhone users to experience new features on their smartphones.
Along with these features, the update offers design changes to some apps as well. While some design changes are impressive, many users are unhappy with a few others. The redesign of the Photos app is one major change that iPhone users are unhappy about.
Apple claims that the new design will present the Photos app in a simplified and beautiful layout while the library view will continue to be familiar and unified. However, iPhone users have complained that the new design is cumbersome and overwhelming, making it unintuitive and not easy to navigate.

Many users have taken to the popular X platform to express their displeasure over the change. One user has said that in most cases a design change introduced by a major iOS update is difficult to accept immediately but wins customers over time. However, this was not likely to happen in the case of the Photos app. Several others have requested Apple to revert to the old design.
Getting the Old Design Once Again
While it may not be able to change the design of the Photos app to match that of an earlier iOS version, iPhone users can opt for the Customize & Reorder feature in the Photos app to change the design to format like it was before the iOS 18 update. When the app is open, this option can be found on the home page at the bottom.

When this option is chosen, the Photos app will show 11 collections on the screen. These include People, Recent Days, and Pinned Collections to mention just a few. Users can select or deselect any collection of their choice except Media Type.
Depending on the options chosen, the Photos app will have a less complicated layout making navigating through it easier than before.
