The iPhone 17Air/Slim is a new addition to the iPhone 17 lineup from Apple and is reported to take the place of the usual Plus variant.
Several details of the iPhone 17 Air smartphone have surfaced in the past. A new report now mentions about the production of the handset.
New Product Introduction Phase
Based on details received from supply sources, the smartphone is now in the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase of its Foxconn unit. For the unversed, this is a phase where the iPhone 17 Air/Slim is transitioned from concept to mass production.

It also involves the close coordination of the manufacturer with its suppliers for design and manufacturing feasibility assessments. Various other aspects such as putting forth different manufacturing methods, pilot production, quality control, and more.
Expected iPhone Air/Slim Details
True to its name, the upcoming smartphone will have a thinner profile than its predecessors. It is said that the handset will be slimmer than the iPhone 16 Pro by 2 mm. With a display panel of size between 6.55 mm and 6.65 mm, it will be positioned between the Pro variants, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max.
On the back, the iPhone 17 Air/Slim will house a huge camera bump in the center with only one 48 MP camera. There will also be a front-facing 24 MP camera. On the whole, Apple is slated to opt for a simplified camera setup for the smartphone. The battery details are unclear at the moment.

Under the hood, the smartphone will incorporate a 3nm A19 Pro chip. The handset will also include its custom-designed 5G modem chip that not only features better integration with other components from Apple but is also smaller in size. The handset will incorporate e-SIM technology and do away with the physical SIM tray to contribute towards the sleek form factor.
The iPhone 17 Air/Slim will be priced less than the Pro lineup which has a starting price of USD 999 and will be launched in September 2025 along with the other smartphones in the iPhone 17 series.
