A report last week that Apple would opt for an aluminum frame for its upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max had iPhone users raise their eyebrows in concern.
The manufacturer had last opted for aluminum way back in 2016 following which all Pro variants had a brushed titanium frame. A new report now states that Apple would not be reverting to an aluminum frame after all.
Titanium Frame for Pro Variants
According to a Weibo post by tipster Setsuna Digital, both Pro variants in the iPhone 17 lineup comprising the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max would have a titanium frame and not aluminum. The leaker goes on to add that one of the key selling points adopted by Apple for its Pro models is its choice of high-end frame materials.
The tipster has no substantial evidence to back up his/her claim. As he/she holds a mixed record for the authenticity of Apple leaks, the information should be considered with a grain of salt. However, the leaker has some noteworthy correct predictions to his/her credit like the Camera Control button and the yellow iPhone 14 to mention a few and so it is likely that he/she may be correct this time as well.

It is not likely that Apple will opt for a build material change after making the shift just a couple of years ago. The Cupertino giant shifted from stainless steel frames to aluminum. However, the manufacturer has a record of doing away with features such as 3D Touch and in-stone elements after offering them for several years. Earlier reports also state that Apple is working on making significant design changes to the iPhone 17 lineup.
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro lineup will arrive in September along with the other smartphones in the iPhone 17 series. The manufacturer is said to be doing away with the Plus variant found in the lineups of the past and introducing a new iPhone 17 Slim in its place.
