Minecraft: Drop Update Model Could Lead To Long-Requested Blocks Being Added

Minecraft Drop Update Model

Fans continue to wait for Mojang to introduce new furniture items in the Minecraft game.

A future Minecraft update could pave the way for a bunch of blocks, which players had been requesting for a long time, to be added to the game. At its core, the gameplay of Minecraft revolves around giving players adequate freedom to explore, play and build a variety of things. Despite giving players the opportunity to exercise their creative freedom, the game suffered from the absence of an important feature.

Even though Minecraft was launched way back in 2011, several decorative blocks, including furniture, have not been added to the base game. For a long time, players had been waiting for the arrival of an update that would enhance the quality and appearance of the builds of the players. The large-scale updates, rolled out by Minecraft in the past, were not designed to bring about these enhancements. A Minecraft update, which focusses on smaller content drops, could be the solution to this.

For a long time, players have been requesting Minecraft to introduce the blocks to the game. When you visit the official website of Minecraft, you can see “Previously Considered Suggestions” right at the beginning. Till now, Mojang has not offered any clarification on why it has not added furniture to the vanilla version of the game.

A quote on the official website of Minecraft reads, “Furniture, decoration items: Features that inhibit natural creativity or can already be done in other ways are not being considered”. As per this quote, one gets the impression that Mojang believes that adding furniture to the game will not add to the creativity or ingenuity of players.

When Minecraft was launched, Mojang had a certain vision for it. Every time a new Minecraft update was introduced, the game took a step forward towards its evolution. With time, players also shared their feedback and Mojang kept implementing them.

While there is no doubt about the fact that Mojang would want the best for the game, its judgment could go wrong on several occasions. Mojang’s decision regarding the furniture, many fans believe, is misplaced. A large section of the players is of the opinion that adding furniture through smaller content drops would lead to improving player builds.

It is important to note here that players, in the past, have come up with solutions for this problem in several innovative ways. Players often take the help of blocks like pressure plates, fence posts, stairs and trapdoors to give the impression of them being small shelves, tables and chairs. Many players have also discovered techniques to manipulate the mechanics of Minecraft with the help of block overlaps and pistons.

In the near future, there is a limited possibility of Mojang changing its stance on furniture-related items completely. The gaming studio, after all, is of the belief adding too many furniture pieces in the game would have an adverse effect on players’ creativity. However, a smaller Minecraft update could pave the way for the arrival of chairs, tables, desks, couches, display cases and other furniture items.
