Players should expect the Summer Games 2025 to kick off by the end of this month!
If you like playing Overwatch 2 and have been a fan of the Summer Games, here is some good news for you. After August 26, one can look forward to Summer Games 2025 arriving in the game at some point. A while back, one came across discussions in online communities that served as a reflection of the fact that most players believed that Summer Games would not be a part of Overwatch 2 this year. However, Blizzard seemed to have sensed that players wanted it back. So now, it is giving them what they really wanted to see back in the game.
The Summer Games can be best described as an in-game event revolving around the theme of the Olympics. Ever since Overwatch came out in the year 2016, one has seen the Summer Games being organized almost every year in the month of July or August.

Since Blizzard did not utter a single word about the Summer Games this year, a section of the fans started believing that it would not be organized this year.
Fans have been pleasantly surprised to see Overwatch 2 make an announcement about The Summer Games at the last minute. Through an X post, Overwatch 2 confirmed the fact that the Summer Games would be making a comeback in Season 18. Though the summer season has come to an end, Overwatch 2 plans to uplift the spirit of fans by introducing a limited-time event after the launch of the next content update.
Blizzard has not yet disclosed any key information pertaining to this year’s Summer Games. However, when one looks back at the events organized last year, one gets some idea of what it could offer. While the Lucioball game mode has been confirmed for a comeback, one keeps hearing about the return of Winston’s Beach Volleyball from Summer Games 2023. These game modes should give players the opportunity to participate in a bunch of in-game challenges.

Though Blizzard has not shared any concrete dates so far, one could assume that the Summer Games will start as soon as Season 18 kicks off on August 18. In Overwatch 1 and 2, most Summer Games events have been around for around three weeks. Keeping this fact into account, one can assume that the event will go on till September 16.
In Season 18, one can expect to see a lot of fresh content in Overwatch 2. Fans should look forward to the arrival of the aquatic support hero Wuyang who is known for having high mobility, controllable primary fire and strong crowd-controlling abilities. The Payload Race game mode and a Competitive rank reset should contribute towards keeping players engaged.
