The theories about the PS6 getting a launch in 2028 have irked some fans!
PlayStation 5 was launched in 2020. Given the fact that it has been more than 4 years since Sony launched the console, there is a lot of excitement around PlayStation 6. Last year, Sony expanded the PS5 family by rolling out the PS5 Pro. For a while, one has been hearing rumors about PlayStation working on a handheld device. Because of this, one is not entirely sure as to what the next hardware release from PlayStation will be.
While PS4 was launched in 2013, PS5 was introduced to the world in 2020. If we take this pattern into account, one should expect PS6 to release in 2027. Some comments from an ex-PlayStation executive, which one has come across, suggest otherwise.

Shuhei Yoshida, who passed away recently, had a long-standing association with Sony. Yoshida joined the Japanese multinational conglomerate in the year 1993 and played an important role in building the PlayStation brand from scratch.
When probed about a potential release date for PS6, Yoshida stated that a 2027 release date, according to him, is “a bit too early” for the PS6. Yoshida further stated that the PS6 releasing in 2028 sounds like a much more plausible idea.
He made it clear that he does not have any information about the release date of PS6 as Sony itself has not finalized one.

Yoshida’s statement has garnered mixed reactions from fans. While a section of the fans would be happy if they get a product that matches their expectations in 2028, there are some who don’t want to wait that long for the game to arrive.
Fans have been waiting for the arrival of PS6 for a very long time but they would not want Sony to launch a console that feels like a downgrade.
