The upcoming update will bring several new ambient features to the game.
If one closely analyses the Minecraft updates rolled out in the recent past, one cannot help but assume that Mojang is consciously working towards altering the look and feel of the Overworld for the better. Overworld is that dimension in Minecraft wherein players spawn.
In the last couple of months, Mojang has brought in a lot of fresh content and features to the dimension. An update, that is scheduled to be launched soon, will fill up the Overworld with several more features.

As compared to the features the developers have rolled out in the past, the new features do not hold much weight. However, one cannot deny the fact that they are important and prove to bolster up the Overworld dimension.
Through some of its updates released in the past, Mojang made an attempt to add new features like items, blocks, mobs and biomes to the Overworld. The developer, in the past, had rolled out mobs like warden, sniffer, allay, frog, armadillo, breeze, camel and bogged. After a while, biomes like Dark, Lush Caves, Deep Dark, Cherry Grove and Pale Garden, too, were brought into the game.
One would have expected Mojang to launch a new biome or mob through the upcoming Minecraft update. However, the gaming studio has refrained from doing that. Mojang will be introducing new ambient features that will work towards enhancing the existing biomes in Overworld.
While features like falling leaves will contribute towards adding more immersive value to biomes in the Overworld featuring trees, the forests would be filled up by leaf litter and wildflowers. Firefly bushes, on the other hand, will mesmerize players with firefly particles during nighttime.

The aforementioned features will play an important role in amplifying the ambient quotient in the Overworld. The dimension has been bereft of enough ambient features for a long time. Since many of the Overworld biomes had become a little outdated or barren, there was a need to introduce new features in this space.
One has to laud Mojang’s effort to introduce new features to the biomes quite regularly. In the latest snapshot 25w05a pertaining to the upcoming Minecraft update, Mojang added new ambient sounds for the sand, red sand and terracotta blocks. Desert and Badland biomes were provided with some special sound effects. In all three Badlands biome variants, new cow and pig variants were brought in.
