Vivo is actively working on its next foldable Vivo X Fold 4.
While a few specs of the X Fold 4 have been tipped in the past, a new leak now gives an interesting bit of information about the smartphone that makes it stand out from its predecessor.
Side-Mounted Fingerprint Scanner
The Weibo post by popular tipster Digital Chat Station does not mention the name of any handset. However, it is safe to assume that the foldable being referenced is the foldable from Vivo.

According to the post, the manufacturer is likely to do away with the standard in-screen fingerprint sensor that we have been seeing in the brand’s handsets so far. This sensor will give way to a fingerprint scanner on the side of the Vivo X Fold 4. This change is a part of Vivo’s effort to keep its foldable very thin and lightweight. With this change, the thickness will be as low as 8 mm.
Other Expected Vivo X Fold4 Details
Going by details leaked in the past, the smartphone will draw its juice from a 6,000 mAh battery with wireless charging support. Additionally, the handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor from Qualcomm under its hood. It will also incorporate an IPX8 water resistance rating.

The X Fold 4 will have three cameras on the rear panel. Each of the three snappers will have a resolution of 50 MP. The three shooters will be a primary camera, a periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide lens.
The Vivo X Fold 4 is anticipated to have a delayed launch when compared to the X Fold 3. The foldable is slated to see the light of day in the second quarter of this year. Moreover, there are talks that, unlike the predecessor, the X Fold 4 will not be accompanied by a Pro variant.
