The Xiaomi 16 Ultra will be the top-end variant in the upcoming Xiaomi 16 lineup, the other two smartphones being the Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro.
A new leak has now come up about the continuous optical zoom of the 16 Ultra.
Continuous Optical Zoom
The latest leak appears in the form of a Weibo post by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station.
According to the post, the manufacturer will opt for a new concept known as continuous optical zoom for its periscope camera. This feature is technically complex and relatively rare and has been implemented in very few smartphones so far. The same post claims that the periscope camera will have a large 200 MP resolution, along with several layers for the lens.

The leak goes on to add that the brand will achieve continuous optical zoom by using a common CMOS sensor between two optical zoom segments. This will help to cut down on quality loss when zooming out or in.
If Xiaomi does implement this zooming technique, users will no longer be stuck with fixed zoom levels like 3x or 5x. Instead, they will be able to enjoy the experience of using a DSLR lens that provides a smooth zooming experience.
Other Expected Xiaomi 16 Ultra Details
The Xiaomi 16 Ultra will house a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset from Qualcomm. It will have a massive battery with a capacity ranging from 7000 mAh to 7500 mAh.
