A lot has been said about the forthcoming Moto G4, however, the official release date of this phone, somehow, remains to be a mystery.
Leaks of the phone’s possible design and even a second variant by the name of Moto G4 Plus have been rife in the recent past, leading to suggestions that the phone might be released or rather announced pretty soon.
If you are familiar with smartphone leaks, you should have come across a Steve Hemmerstoffer. This is the man who is also behind the latest leaks regarding the 4th generation Moto G. Posting on his Twitter account, Hemmerstoffer revealed images of a possible case for the Moto G (2016). The rugged, black case covers a huge part of the phone’s rear, however, it is still possible to notice some of the features that have been doing rounds in rumors.
It has previously been claimed that Lenovo will, this time, include a fingerprint sensor on the mid-tier Moto G4. However, the latest images are going against this rumor. If this is to be believed, then it is possible that this flagship feature will be exclusive to the flagship Moto G4 Plus.
One thing that seems confirmed for the 4th Gen Moto G is the position of the rear snapper. It appears in the center with the dual-LED flash right below it and above it, there is something that looks like a sensor. If indeed this is what the Moto G4 will look like, we’ll only have the fingerprint scanner on the G4 Plus model.
Moto G4 and G4 Plus release date
On previous occasions, it has been speculated that Lenovo will announce the two smartphones somewhere in July. However, it seems this is not going to happen as thought. Just recently, Motorola sent some invitations to Indian media and it is believed that this is meant for some kind of launch event to be held on May 17.
The Moto G handsets are used all over the world. While launching the phone in India is still great for the company, this date might also see the company hold simultaneous launch events in other regions. However, there is no any form of confirmation whatsoever regarding Motorola events in other parts of the world. This even throws further doubt in the fact that the May 17 event will be meant for unveiling a new Moto G4 and G4 Plus. If anything, Motorola might be looking to unveil a region or market-specific device.
Keep following and we’ll keep you updated about the New Delhi Motorola event.
