BMW has been able to make a foray into the laser light technology much earlier than its rivals like Mercedes and Audi.
Not being keen on left out of the race, Audi is bringing the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus with this great technology as its first production car fitted in the United States to be fitted with laser lights. The is expected to make its debut at the 2016 LA auto show which will take place only in a few weeks from now. It will be extremely difficult to spot one on the road, as Audi is bringing only 25 of these limited edition models to the United States.
The biggest draw in the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus would be the laser headlights, which are offered along with the standard LED bulbs. The laser systems, though, coming as a supplementary element at speeds above 40 mph. The blue lasers used in the housing gets converted into white light using a phosphor converter.
However, it is a start that is expected to carry on enhancing the rest of the Audi line-up in the coming years. The Audi A8 has been spotted doing testing under heavy camouflage and the latest generation of this top sedan from the German luxury carmaker is widely expected to sport laser lights. Customers will be able to purchase the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus only through the company’s exclusive program, which is largely the automaker’s in-house bespoke specialists.
One of the vehicles being featured in the promotions comes with 20 inch wheels made of high gloss anthracite while the steering wheel has a signature orange indicator signifying its limited edition status. The black and orange color scheme extends to the rest of the interior and Audi has given a full leather seating along with door sills is also being enriched with leather. The rear shelf, rear panels, and the luggage compartment are finished in Alcantara which is also used as a headliner along with diamond stitching. The 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus gets exclusive racing style bucket seats which complete the interior package.
In terms of enhancing the performance, the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus is equipped with carbon ceramic brakes which provide almost no brake fade to ensure the best performance at all times. More carbon is present across the device in the form of a front lip spoiler and rear diffuser.
Prices of the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus start at $229,200 without any destination charges.
