2018 Renault Megane RS Sporty Version to Deliver Over 300 HP

2018 Renault Megane RS Sporty Version

Sporty hatchbacks always serve as a benchmark to showcase the performance an automaker can render.

The 2018 Renault Megane RS is one such model scheduled to get launched next year.

New rumors indicate that the sporty version of the Megane should be able to deliver more than 300 horsepower, making it a fast beast on the road. Renault is in a position to prove itself against competition. The company’s competitors are rolling out hot hatches and the Megane RS is going to be their answer. The car will sport a rear wheel drive system and a couple of exclusive images have popped online giving us a glimpse of how the car could look like.

The current record holder at the Nurburgring lap is the Volkswage Golf GTI Clubsport S. Speaking about their attempt to break the lap record, Patrice Ratti, head of Renault commented that the company wouldn’t try to push boundaries with the current model beyond the 300 horsepower limit. However, the newer version, the 2018 Renault Megane RS is going to prove itself with some impressive performance.

“We are aware of the fact that the Megane is quite fast in the corners. But, there are some changes to be made in order to make it efficient in the straight section. The record attempt is something we are not aiming with the current generation model but we will do so with the next edition of the Megane, I think,” said Ratti.

A global chassis system is mandatory for the car to run in a certain style to compete with the likes of the Ford Focus RS. When the RenaultSport does something about this section, they will be able to deliver some impressive performance, commented an insider from the company. It does lead to the concept of equipping the future Megane RS with four-wheel drive system but the brand’s head Ratti confirmed that they are going with a front wheel drive system one more time. There are no immediate plans to implement an all-wheel drive design yet.

All the popular and the most preferred design elements from the older Megane is found in the new 2018 Renault Megane RS edition. The wheel arches bigger while the bumpers and the front alloys are designed to give it a sporty finish. The current model offers 271 horsepower but the newer one should deliver more than 300 hp and if it does with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, the results could set a new benchmark for every brand out there.
