Qualcomm pioneers the best smartphone processors and after making the most popular high end chip, the company has officially unveiled the Snapdragon 450 for entry level smartphones.
With the newest chip, the manufacturer has promised that users can experience at least 25% boost in performance in all phones powered by the said processor.
The two big players in the industry are Qualcomm and MediaTek. While Samsung has its own Exynos chip and Huawei has theirs, majority of smartphone manufacturers prefer to go with Qualcomm. Their chips have hardly had any heating issues and are reliable on the long run. They have been in the smartphone industry for nearly a decade and promises to push the benchmark much further by providing an optimal experience for users.
Better Processing Power
Qualcomm has confirmed that their new chipset, the Snapdragon 450 is based on the Cortex A53 with 8 crores of processing power and will provide a significant 25% boost in performance. It is appropriately paired up with the Adreno 506 GPU which will once again provide 25% increase in gaming performance. Most users, especially those in the growing market often prefer entry level and mid-range smartphones for their inexpensive price tag.
Decreased Power Consumption
One of the biggest highlights of the chip is that it is built on the 14-nm process which makes it highly power efficient. An energy efficient chip like this one requires 30% less power when gaming and for people who love to spend hours playing, which most do these days while commuting and leisure hours, it should help preserve battery life.
Reliable Battery Life, USB 3.0 Support
Battery life has been the chief complaint for most users as smartphones got smarter. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset provides at least 4 hours more battery life than the older edition. The processor supports new camera features allowing dual cameras with 13 megapixels each to function efficiently. Cameras can shoot 1080p videos at 60 fps and also supports USB 3.0 making it future proof for phones to be released in 2017.
A detailed table has been released by Qualcomm to showcase the difference between the last generation Snapdragon 435 chipset and the newly announced Snapdragon 450. Many of the features are on par with the mid-range Snapdragon 625 making it extremely powerful especially when the affordable price tag is considered. Phones featuring the new entry level chip will be announced soon and if you are planning to buy one, it’s better to wait for a couple of months.
